THE INDOOR PICNIC/ DRIVE-IN MOVIE

Need:
  • A fun take-out dinner that you don't have to (entirely) make yourself. What we got: Papa Murphy's take-n-bake pizza (we like the kind with the creamy garlic sauce instead of the marinara sauce). We also made a salad at home, but we bought a fun sparkling cider to go with the meal.
  • A good place to watch a movie. My husband's great with setting things up on the quick, so he used his parent's projector and set it up in our room so we could have it on the big screen.
  • A movie. We used Netflix, but RedBox or plain, old-fashioned picking one from the DVD (or VHS, if you want to go there) collection works great too.
  • A blanket. What's a picnic without a blanket? We set it up on our bed so we could watch the movie in our room and not have to eat on the floor, because, let's face it. I'm getting old, and I don't think it'd be that fun to sit on the floor and watch a movie for 2 hours if there's a better option.

On paper, it seems like a bit of a silly date idea, but I'd have to say that it was a fun one, mostly because it was guaranteed time together for a couple of hours without having to spend money on a movie ticket.

Something AWESOME that my husband did while we were dating:
Of course, I realize that he had a lot of great components that a lot of people might not have access to, but I suppose all it takes is a bit of creativity. He used his parent's projector to set up a movie in the backyard. Their backyard had a gate that opened up into an alley, so he pulled a car in through the gate. Then he set up the sound so that the sound for the movie came in through the sound system of the car (this is where I would be completely lost if someone asked me to help in any way in setting up, and I'm only a little ashamed to admit it). And voila! We had an at-home drive-in movie. Complete with popcorn.
