A one-of-a-kind restaurant/store is in central Phoenix and is definitely worth whatever drive you have to make to get there. My dad worked in Phoenix and we would go there occasionally for lunch on days when I was able to visit him downtown, but since he's retired we've kept going.
As far as being a soda fountain, there are 100 flavors of soda to choose from. You can have your choice of an ice cream soda, an italian soda, or a plain jane soda. They serve lunch and dinner, too. Off to the side of the restaurant is a vintage store with some great old-fashioned things to look at and buy if you want.
