A few thoughts on second-hand bookstores:
Sometimes I want to hold onto books that I or my kids might like to read later on, which works sometimes as far as having fun things to read. However, I've been thinking more and more about the fact that new series come out all the time, and kids are interested in different things at different times, which means sometimes they'll want to read the "classics", and sometimes they'll want to read the new stuff. So why not let them choose? We've decided to go about once a year to a second-hand bookstore, trade in old books and let our son pick out "new" ones with the store credit. Granted, you don't often get a lot of money for what you trade in, but it helps pay for some of what you buy. AND you get rid of some of the things you have that no one is looking at, let alone using, at your house.
Bookman's offers a Kids Club where you get 10% off all purchases for kids and a $10 gift certificate in an email during the month of the child's birthday.Kids ages 13-17 can sign up to get 15% off all purchases and a $15 gift certificate sent to their email for their birthday.
Bookman's also offers an educator's discount of 20%. (You need to sign up ahead of time)
